Engaging communities

It’s important that we make a difference to the local, national and global community, beyond providing a service and employment. Our focus on community engagement takes particular account of SDGs including (2) Zero hunger and (6) Clean water and sanitation.

By engaging with communities we help empower people to make a difference – and by listening to people within these communities, it helps us to adjust our own priorities.

Locally

This is where community begins and we make significant efforts to engage with the local communities where we work.

Here are two examples:

Nationally

We engage with communities at a nation level in a number of ways. This includes:

Supporting the Dallaglio foundations

This helps kids who have been excluded from school. Bidfood run open days for young kids to show them the type of job opportunities and also support a cycle slam with logistics support.

Supporting Hospitality Action

This is an industry charity that helps support colleagues in the industry who have fallen on hard times. We supported their annual event, The Great British Quiz in June; The event is their biggest fund raiser and raised £63k.

In total we have raised over 1.1m for local and national charities and supported over 1,600 charty groups and events.

Globally

We want to help communities across the world, in particular those communities who lack access to fundamental human needs such as water.

Since beginning our partnership with The One Foundation we have helped raise over £148,990 helping to fund water, sanitation and hygiene programmes in the poorest communities across the world.
