Every year, the horrifyingly named “Blue Monday” comes around. Serving as a fantastic reminder that, towards the end of January, we are cold, rained on and feeling the guilty pangs when realising we haven’t… been to the gym more, drunk less and in general been an upstanding, new year’s resolution-binding citizen.
Firstly, we’d just like to stress that there is absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever to back up this ridiculous marketing ploy. However, it is important to remember that January can be a bit of a tough month for some, and it’s so easy to feel overwhelmed this time of year.
Samaritans have hijacked “Blue Monday” and beautifully transformed it into “Brew Monday” – and we are so on board.
Brew Monday aims to raise awareness of our mental health (after all, everyone has mental health!) and encourage us to get together for a cuppa and a chat (our two favourite things) in a constructive way. Go Samaritans… we salute you!
It’s easy to get involved too; all you need is a kettle, a cup of your favourite tea and someone to have a good chin-wag with… biscuits are a bonus, too! So, let’s say good riddance to “Blue Monday” and embrace Brew Monday as a day to show some extra support to our friends, family and colleagues.
