In October 2018 we launched a scheme at our Italian operation to provide decent and fulfilling work for migrants who had arrived in Italy . Louis, Frank, Joshua and Shedrack arrived in Italy in early 2018 after and 18 month journey from Nigeria that encompassed time detained in Libya before finding a route across the Mediterranean.
In partnership with Caritas Italia who were housing them, Princes scheme Lavoro Senza Frontiere launched in October provides meaningful employment for migrants who seek to avoid exploitation in the fields of southern Italy picking grapes, tomatoes, melons, lemons and many other materials we take for granted every day.
Its a small step – we would not claim any more than that – but its a symbolic one and recognised by main Italian national media title Il Corriere Della Serra who heard about our scheme and came to meet the new recruits recently.
All 4 are fully paid up Princes employees and we are proud and lucky to have them in supplying Napolina tomatoes and pulses from Italy to millions of UK households.
